I’ve been riding and racing for three decades. My focus has always been on the road. I particularly enjoy criteriums, I won my first in 1984. I also do time trials and road races but with much less frequency. In 1998 I entered the wonderful world of cyclocross racing. The following year I began mountain bike racing. I do cross country, hill climb, and short track. I’ve been fortunate enough to have won at least one event every year I’ve been racing.
After stints with the East Bay Cycle Club I joined the Boston Road Club in 1994 and have been with them ever since. Kudos to Chris and Dave for founding BRC and the Wells Ave series.
Some memorable career highlights include winning the BRC Championship in 95 and 97. The RI Cyclocross Series Championship in 99. The Root 66 Short Track Championship 06-10. The Rooy 66 Hill Climb Championship 08-10. In 2007 I qualified for and competed in the National Mt Bike Championships. I finished 14th, the last official finisher as everyone else dropped out or was lapped by the pros. That was by far the hardest event I’ve ever done and something I’m prod of.
In 2010 I added single speed cyclocross and in 2011 single speed mtb. How to make hard harder. I’ve raced up and down the East Coast but always look forward to coming home to Wells.
When not logging miles I put my M.A. in History to use and hike or play golf. I plan on riding/racing for as many years as possible.
