Tuesday Evenings
Tuesday Night World Championships (Nahanton Park, Newton): Location: Nahanton Park, Newton (Across From Wells Ave) Ride Leaves: 6:00 PM sharp Average Ride Speed: 22+ mph When: Every Tuesday night. This is a show-and-go ride geared to high intensity training. If you are looking for a recovery ride, this is not the ride for you. An arrowed, 28 mile rolling loop that winds through Needham, Dover, Natick, and Medfield. Attacking and sprinting are encouraged in order to keep the pace up. No one waits.
Wednesday Evenings
Wednesday Night CRW Masters Ride Time: 6:00 PM Sharp! starting April 7. Description: This Fitness Ride offers you the opportunity to ride with others in a paceline format. Routes: Arrowed routes of 23, 28 or 33 miles. Cue Sheets available. Start: Broadmeadow Elementary School at 120 Broadmeadow Road, Needham, MA.
Thursday Evenings
6:00 at Peet's Coffee in Lexington Center (Take Mass. Ave. out from the Charles River and through all the squares; Central, Harvard, Porter.) A moderate pace for pre-race tuning. The route changes, but usually heads out Mass. Ave. to Lexington Center, loops out Grove Street to Page Hill and Bedford, over through the hospital grounds into Billerica, up to the edge of Chelmsford and over to Carlysle Center, back down to Bedford Center, over to Hanscom and into Lexington, then back on Mass. Ave. to Arlington.
Saturday Mornings
Saturday Morning Ride /Charles River Wheelman Nahanton Park Ride. Location: Nahanton Park, Newton. Ride Leaves: 8:30 AM sharp. Various options for distances 19, 23, 28, and 42 mile loops. The route is similar to the other rides out of Nahanton and St. Bart’s. Often a well attended ride in the spring/summer/fall, the ride has various speeds depending on which group you go with. The first group will average over 21 mph on the 42 mile loop. The other groups will have lower average speeds.
Saturday Mornings
South Shore Ride: Time: Saturday and Sunday @ 6:30 AM, all year long (start time changes according to available daylight) Distance: 30-40 miles, longer in the summer Pace: Moderate to Brisk Location: South Shore Start/End: Hingham High School parking lot out to Situate and back Route: Flat with a few easy rolling hills mostly along the seashore. Probably the most scenic ride in the area. Group Composition: Mix group, some racers, but overall very social.
Saturday Mornings
9:00AM at Belmont,Waverly Square, on Trapelo Road across from Wheelworks and in front of Star Market. (Take Rt. I95/128 to Trapelo Road.) People seem to set a moderate pace out to Concord Center where the group splits for shorter distances (Sudbury), mid-distances (Acton), and longer distances (Harvard).
